We’re proud to announce that Nick Cerne has been named a finalist in the 2026 ACLA Industry Awards in the Transport & Logistics Excellence Award category. The nomination recognises Nick’s outstanding contribution to the industry through the design and delivery of a fully integrated transport management system for EZI Loads.

Built from the ground up

What makes this achievement exceptional is not just the result, but how it was achieved. While continuing to carry out his day to day role, Nick helped design and build a new end to end operating platform from scratch, often working after hours and on weekends. Today he continues to improve it, shaping every update around feedback from the people who use it.

The result is the EZI Management App: a practical, high impact system that has transformed the way our transport business operates.

The problem it solved

Before this project, many of our core processes ran on a mix of legacy systems, spreadsheets, paper forms, text messages and phone calls. Job allocation, subcontractor management, driver inductions, prestart checks, defect reporting, maintenance records, proof of delivery, customer invoicing and subcontractor payments were all handled through disconnected tools and manual processes.

That created delays, duplicated work, inconsistent records, invoicing risk and compliance gaps, and made it hard to see what was happening across the business at any given moment.

Nick recognised that these weren’t isolated administrative frustrations. They were barriers to safety, efficiency, accountability and growth.

One platform for the whole operation

The EZI Management App brings operations, compliance, finance and communication together in one place through three connected tools: an administration portal for the office, a driver app and a subcontractor interface.

It now supports the full transport workflow, from job creation through to execution, compliance verification, invoicing and payment. Key processes have been automated, rework has been reduced, compliance evidence is stronger and the business now runs on a single source of truth.

Just as importantly, it has improved the experience for everyone involved. Office staff, drivers, subcontractors and customers all have access to information that is easier to find, more accurate and more timely, whether we’re running a local and metro delivery or an interstate freight job.

A genuine competitive advantage

Rather than relying on expensive off the shelf software with limited flexibility, Nick built a solution tailored to the realities of our operation, one that allows EZI Loads to compete with businesses many times our size and budget across our full range of transport and logistics services. And because the platform keeps evolving based on real user feedback, improvements are practical, immediate and grounded in what the operation actually needs.

Recognition well deserved

Nick’s work demonstrates initiative, technical capability, commitment and leadership. Most importantly, it has created lasting value by making our transport operation safer, more efficient, more scalable and more professional. It’s a great reflection of the people behind EZI Loads, and you can meet the rest of our team here.

The winners will be announced at the ACLA Industry Awards night on Friday 23 October. The whole EZI Loads team is behind you, Nick. Best of luck on the night, and congratulations on an achievement you should be incredibly proud of.
